Awesome First Day!

Wow, what a great day! I was so impressed by Ryan and Bristol's ability to transition smoothly to the new classroom. They both started their day manipulating letters in the sensory pool.

We then moved to our own Sprouts classroom where we got to know each other during morning circle, singing our good morning songs, and targeting turn-taking skills rolling a ball back and forth. We also introduced weather concepts using picture cues for "sunny," "cloudy," and "rainy" and calendar concepts using picture cues for the months and days of the week.

Ryan and Bristol loved playing on the playground with the two-year-old class from Dilworth United Methodist. We focused on using signs for "more," "go," and "stop" and expanding our sentences while rolling around in cars.

After the playground, Ryan and Bristol enjoyed language circle. We read-the book, I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak, which talks about body parts that make up "Me!"

Following the story, we used our fine motor skills making bead bracelets out of the letters in our name, forming play-doh into the letters of our names, and painting name art.

We concluded our day eating lunch and singing songs with the rest of the Speech Garden preschool. I'm looking forward to another great day on Thursday! Thank you for sharing your children with us!
